Angelina Vuitton.

Hello.

I am infatuated with Angelina Jolie. I have yet to see anyone close to being as stunning as her. A natural beauty. So I was very excited to see her featured alongside another obsession of mine, Louis Vuitton. Shot in Cambodia by renowned photographer, Annie Leibovitz, Angelina is perfect for the luggage labels "Core Values" advertising campaign. The bag featured is the "Alto", which is actually discontinued. I hope they would consider reproducing it even for a limited time because I absolutely love it, especially the leather patch at the bottom and the simplicity of it.

Peacock Proud.

Hello.

I really like peacock feathers at the moment. I know it was done a few seasons ago, but the rebel in me is wanting a bit of bird prey amongst all the wild animal prints that's everywhere at the moment, cheetah and leopard galore! It has become borderline camouflage! I found these images from Giambattista Valli's fall 2009 collection. It would be nice to enhance these colours for the current winter. A bit of royal blue, emerald green, a strong purple, and a highlight of gold. A strong, powerful confident woman, just like a proud peacock. Forget the camouflage cats lurking in the jungle and put on some bright peacock earrings and let your feathers fly.

Forest Green.

Hello.

This is another online buy. I bought the dress during summer from Torn by Ronny Kobo. I liked the print and colours. With sizing, I went a size up because it looked really tight on the model and I wanted a comfortable fit. Some girls make the mistake of buying clothes that are really tight. I don't find it particularly sexy, no matter how great your body is. Having fabric cling to a panty line or seeing the hole of a belly button doesn't flatter anyone. I think sexiness can be interpreted in other ways. Such as with clean naturally blow-dried hair, or a bit a of dark eyeliner, and maybe even a smile :-) On the other hand, the only tightly-fitted item that I think is sexy would be an Herve Leger dress. Drool!!! I suppose then we can say, "if you have got it, flaunt it." ;-P

The leather jacket is by Muubaa and was also bought online. It's a forest green colour. I love, love, love black! But when I saw it on sale last week I just couldn't resist the bargain. Enjoy :-)

Online Shopping.

Hello.

I wore this the other day. It's something very casual and comfortable. I pretty much buy all my clothes online now because I just hate paying $340 for a pair of jeans that would only cost $180 for the exact same pair online, with free shipping to boot. I have been shopping online for a few years now and it has totally changed the way I shop. When I walk into a store, if my first experience is bad, I will never shop there again. I hate walking into stores where the sales people ignore you, or look at you like you're poor and ugly. I would rather hand over my credit card to a company that values customer service, even if the service is somewhat virtual.

The positive sides of online shopping include:

  • Availability of sizes. If you can't find it at one store, just google another.
  • No queues. Why line up? Especially during sales when the change-rooms are full.
  • Competitive pricing.
  • No limit to where you shop. You don't need a plane ticket to buy a leather jacket from the US. The whole world becomes your shopping centre, rather than just the ones in your city.
  • Discounts readily available through coupon codes.

These are just a few, but there are so many positive aspects to online shopping. The important thing though is to research the site you are on before you buy, just to ensure you are shopping on a valid site. One of the most important things to look for is authenticity of the product, and returns and refunds. If there is no refund or exchange policy I will most likely not shop there.

Fake Lashes.

Hello.

I had to comment about fake lash extensions. I noticed the chicmuse had done a post about them and just wanted to give another perspective on them. I think fake lash extensions are horrible. I actually have a love/hate relationship with them. And today, I am hating them. They look amazing at first, but once you wash your face several times they tend to shift and some even start poking down into your eyes. Salons are getting better quality lashes in, such as the mink ones which feel much softer, however, no matter what type you put in, they will all eventually fall off usually taking your lashes with it at the same time.

This is probably the third time I've tried them. You may ask why I keep going back. Well, I suppose I do get fed up with using mascara all the time and love the look of waking up with long bambi-like lashes in the morning. I won't give up fake lash extensions forever, but for now, I really need to grow some of my own lashes back. Oh dear...

Apologies for my crappy photo. Don't these black hairs just look so unappealing when they are off your face?

Old Favourites.

Hello.

I noticed a couple of trends around. One is the animal print, and the other is bright coloured jeans. I hate following trends but I felt like wearing this today. The jacket is actually a very old purchase, years old that I can't even remember. And the denim I bought over a year ago while I was in Hong Kong, it's from Marc by Marc Jacobs and normally his range is very bright and full of colour anyway.

I suppose when I shop for things I shop depending on my mood rather than on what the current trends are. And I think that's a much safer way to shop because you are more likely to pick things you actually want rather than things that are new and well-displayed. Wouldn't we all rather wear the things we love, rather than the things everyone else has? And if you just so happen to be wearing it while everyone else is, at least you can rest assured that your favourite little jacket from years ago is less likely to be worn by someone else walking past on the street who most probably got hers from the well-displayed shop carrying all the current trends. In the end, it's all about being unique and feeling special.

Booties.

Hello.

This is a post of my beautiful sister. I have been trying to lure her into online shopping for a very long time and finally she made her first purchase the other day. We were on the hunt for a good pair of leather booties and we finally stumbled upon these taupe coloured ones by Charlotte Ronson. For a bonus they were also 30% off. We both love the height of the heel, which makes for easy walking and the quality of the leather, which means it can stay pretty in our shoe closet for quite some time.

Iconic Kate.

Hello.

I love Kate Moss. She is unlike any other model I have ever seen. Her image has always been that of the antithesis of the "norm"; the normal supermodel, the normal role-model, the normal celebrity. I love the fact that she doesn't conform to people's expectations. She's like a rebel, a wild flower growing amongst a garden of pruned and primped rosebushes.

Looking closely at Kate's career, it seems like she was just destined to succeed no matter what. It was as if she had other forces on her side, a helping hand shaping her into the Iconic Kate of today. From the start, she became known as the "anti-supermodel", with her 5'7" waif-like frame. Her look was controversial, drawing criticism for her "heroin chic" look. However, there was no stopping Kate, and no denying that she had that special je ne sais quoi that just drew you in.

One of the biggest hurdles of her career came during her cocaine controversy of 2005, which saw her lose a number of contracts. Watching Kate from the sidelines, I can't help but wonder if this long spiral into drug use stemmed from her breakup with Johnny Depp in 1997. They really did look like the perfect couple, with even talk that he was her one true love. It's kind of touching really, and you can't help but empathise with her struggle. You can somewhat see her since then trying to find love and failing, and struggling more and more with drugs in the years thereafter. But there is no denying one's destiny, and the following year she bagged 18 modeling contracts in one season.

These are some of my favourite images of the Iconic Kate. Most of them are of the younger Kate, but these images all show how her face is timeless. Maybe it's her simplicity; the wide-set mesmerising eyes, the rose bud lips, the unbelievably high, sculpted cheekbones, all framed and positioned perfectly and finished with a delicate chin. I would describe her look as the perfect mixture of innocence and sexual allure. It's quite a hard mix to find. Most models tend to have one or the other, but not both. But seeing that it's Kate, what else would you expect, but two opposing forces coming together to create the perfect balance of beauty.

Maybe that is what it's all about, balance. A world of perfectly pruned and primped rosebushes would be so boring without a wild flower thrown in.

Little "H".

Hello.

I bought this the other day. I have always wanted an Hermes Birkin bag but that will just have to wait. So for now I settled on this little bracelet. I don't really wear many accessories so I picked the plainest thing they have. And then I thought, with bracelets like these, you really have to layer them because they look so boring on their own, unless it's a statement piece. So I guess I will just have to go back into their store sometime and pick a few other items. For now, I will just enjoy the fact that this is reversible. Two accessories in one at least :-)

Here to Stay.

Hello.

I love casual clothes. Something simple and easy. Clothes that don't really take much thought. You just put them on and they work. I feel that it's important to buy good quality, reliable pieces. It's worth taking the time to look for the best pair of blue jeans, or a great fitting white t-shirt. They will last you a long time and no matter what the trends are, you know that season after season they will still look good.

These boots I purchased years ago from Nine West, I liked them so much I got them in caramel too. It may seem like a splurge, but really, I just grabbed them because I sensed they would last. And so far they are here to stay.

Real Shoes.

Hello.

I love shoes. I am obsessed with shoes. I can be very selfish when it comes to shoes. So selfish in fact, that I don't like seeing anyone else wearing the same shoes as me. I want my shoes all for myself. They are like treasures that I have hunted for, fell in love with and felt special when they found me. But the thing with shoes is, the more beautiful they are, the more likely that everyone else will have them. They become popular, and popular shoes frustrate me. They spread like a foot disease until the beautiful shoe it once began as becomes common, copied, and eventually mass produced. It no longer is the lusted treasure it once was.

But then I found these shoes by Italian label, Gianmarco Lorenzi. Gianni Renzi, the creative director at Gianmarco Lorenzi is incredible. He is a shoe genius, a treasure creator. He understands the importance of quality and craftsmanship as well as beauty. His limited edition Black Label collection is the definition of luxury, with every piece hand-crafted with Swarovski crystals and uniquely numbered.

I think I have found what I was looking for in Gianmarco Lorenzi. What is fantastic about this label is that it hasn't even infiltrated the US yet, rather, they are more of a predominant label in Russia and now China. (Two of my favourite countries fashion wise). Despite it's inevitable expansion, I find pleasure in knowing that in order to have a pair of Gianmarco Lorenzi heels I would have to go to far away lands just to find them, especially those limited edition ones that I would have to get my pretty feet into before anyone else does.

I found this fabulous quote on his company profile: "In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different" (Coco Chanel). It made my selfish feet smile :-)
